September, 27th, 2016…//Doyle Sails New Zealand is pleased to be welcoming Guillermo Altadill as a Grand Prix Race Salesman, bringing added offshore and performance racing expertise to the team.
Hailing from Barcelona, Spain, Altadill’s impressive career has seen him sail around the world 10 times in races including the Whitbread Round The World Race, The Race, Volvo Ocean Race and Barcelona World Race. With an incredibly diverse range of sailing experience, from Optimists and involvement in five Olympic campaigns, to multihulls and his offshore racing, Altadill’s huge amount of experience will prove invaluable to Doyle’s customer base.
Altadill was inspired to join the company after being consistently impressed by the performance of Doyle Stratis sails on numerous campaigns including Neutrogena in the Barcelona World Race 2014/2015. “From my first time sailing around the world, in the Whitbread 1989/1990, to most recently in the Barcelona World Race, I have sailed with Doyle Sails,” he says. “All sailors look for performance, advanced technology and durability from their sails, as well as expert sailmakers and designers to discuss ideas with in order to find ways to go faster, and Doyle Sails and Stratis have proved they are on top of the game in this field.”
The Doyle team places huge importance on building relationships with clients and providing a full support package, with Altadill benefitting from this approach in the past. “Today it is not just about buying a set of sails and going racing, if you want to win races you need to have a fluid dialogue with the team that is building your sails and when the team is made up of sailors like you then this dialogue is easy and fun and gets results,” he says.
Altadill’s appointment builds on Doyle Sails New Zealand’s continued investment into the performance sailing sector, with recent moves including the addition of Stu Bannatyne to the team as Grand Prix Race Sales & Projects Rep and Mike Sanderson taking the majority share in the company alongside fellow directors David Duff and Richard Bouzaid.
“We are hugely excited to have Guillermo join the team,” say Mike Sanderson, CEO of Doyle Sails New Zealand. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and countless offshore miles and we are looking forward to translating that experience into our product range and continuing to build on our expert support service for our customers.”
“Joining Doyle Sails New Zealand is the best opportunity for me to work with people who share the same ambitions in the sailing and racing world,” says Altadill. “Sailing and racing has developed incredibly fast in recent years, with so many of innovations, and Doyle Sails New Zealand have always worked with sailors to stay ahead of this innovation. There are still many more developments to come and I am excited to be involved with such a fast moving company.”
